Free Activities for Kids at Lake James

Want to get out of town with your Little?  Here is a great opportunity from Lake James State Park:

“Lake James State Park is holding Kid Camp from 10 a.m.-noon each Friday through Aug. 13. Come for just one program or come for all. Each week will be a different wild topic. Kid Camp is free of charge but we ask that you register by calling the park office at 652-5047.

Kid Camp for July 16 is “Meet A Tree.” Take a short hike to learn about the parts of a tree, the life cycle, look at tree cookies and more. Meet at the picnic shelter at 10 a.m. A canoe excursion is also planned for this weekend – at 10 a.m. July 17. Join Park Ranger Clay Veasey for a leisurely morning paddle along the shores of Lake James. Bring water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. The rangers will provide canoes, paddles and life jackets. Due to the nature of this program, audience size will be limited to 14 spaces. Call 652-5047 to register by noon on July 16. Only individuals who are registered will be allowed to attend. The canoe excursion is for ages 7 and up. Meet at the park office at 9 a.m.”
