Results of surveys with Swain County school counselors and teachers in June 2011 showed that youth who have a Big Brother or Big Sister improved in the following areas:
93% improved relationships with adults and with peers
89% improved decision-making skills
86% improved self-confidence
82% improved classroom behavior
