The Asheville International Film Festival features a Treasure Trove of 70 films from 25 countries full of adventure, surprises, belly laughs, and stories that are sure to make kids think and see the world in a brand new way. Matches can participate in Kids Care activities through Hands On Asheville. One Saturday a month, Kids Care provides an opportunity for youth ages 7-12 to engage in service in the community; a parent or mentor attends as well. Next date: Nov. 13 from 1:00-3:00. Join the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club for a bike rodeo this coming Saturday, Oct, 9th at the Enka/Candler Fire Dept. The department is holding their annual open house and hosting a lot of safety information to the community.
Club Member Claudia Nix says “Any of the Big Brother and Big Sister’ are welcome to bring their Littles to the rodeo. They can bring their own bikes if they have them and we will inspect them to be sure they are safe. Otherwise they can just borrow the ones we are bringing.”
The event begins at 10AM and goes until 2PM. It is held at the Candler Fire Station #1 which is located on Hwy 151 just off Hwy 19& 23 in downtown Candler.
We will run the kids through the bike skills program and give them plenty of time to practice the skills over and over.
