Thank you to Big Brother Louis Tomasetti and the Asheville Police Department for an informative and interesting tour of the APD on March 4! Eight matches attended the tour. Feedback from Big Brother Mark: “I think it was both very educational and fun at the same time. I know the time the police officers spent with all our matches was quite beneficial in their understanding of what goes on behind the scenes at a police department. Big thanks to Louis Tomasetti and everyone else for their time Friday.”

“Big Brothers Big Sisters Night” at the Asheville Tourists game will be on Monday, April 18. Matches are invited to attend for free, and Bigs can bring a guest for free who is interested in learning more about Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring opportunities! Matches will sit together, so look for the BBBS banner. Call 253-1470 by April 15 to sign up!

In celebration of National Mentoring Month in January, Big Brothers Big Sisters is asking community members to get involved in children’s lives — by being a mentor, helping recruit mentors for youth, or by donating to support programs for youth. Click on the “Volunteer” tab on our website to download a volunteer enrollment form.
Mark Lundblad, Manufacturing Manager at SGL Group LLC in Morganton and Team Manager for Team Inov-8 (running team) shares what motivated him to become a Big Brother recently:
“I wanted to become a Big Brother because I never had children of my own and I always gave donations to charity but this has seemed empty to me. I wanted to donate my time instead of money to make it more meaningful not only for my little but also for me. It has been a very rewarding experience and it is something I wish I had done sooner. I think I’m making a positive impact on my little’s life. For me this isthe ultimate way to give back.”
