Fun at the Nature Center!

25 Bigs and Littles joined us at the Nature Center for a summer outing. The Littles got to “pet” a wide variety of snakes, from tiny garter snakes to a huge Burmese Python. The group also enjoyed the Butterfly Garden, saw peacocks, watched the otters swim, and petted goats.  Assistant Director Jamye Davis struggled with a goat that was eating the kids’ Scavenger Hunt papers!

Where Bigs and Littles Meet

Steve and Jeff

Big Brother Steve Babcock and Program Coordinator Jeff Kowalak

“When Steve Babcock talks about his little brother, he refers to him as ‘mine.’ Babcock, who is a Big Brother for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Henderson County, has taken his ‘little’ out on hiking trips and to the movies.”  This is the beginning of a recent article from The Hendersonville Times-News featuring the Henderson County program.

Cindy and Anastasia

Cindy and Anastasia met through Big Brothers Big Sisters in 1997 when Anastasia was 10 years old.  They spent seven years as “Big Sister” and “Little Sister.”  When Anastasia finished high school and went off to Winston Salem State University, her relationship with Cindy carried on.  The pair were together again on May 8, 2010 as Anastasia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Winston Salem State.  Congratulations!
