Recognition Dinner For Littles on May 16!

On Thursday, May 16 at 6:00, we will hold the annual Recognition Dinner For Littles. We will honor Littles of all ages for various accomplishments, and we will have a special recognition for those graduating from high school. Parents and Bigs, please let your Match Support Coordinator know by May 10 if you can attend and what you would like us to recognize your child/ Little for. We are excited to hear from guest speaker, Josh McClure, who was a Little when he was young and is now a Big Brother and a student at Western Carolina University.

On Saturday, May 4 for Bigs and Littles! Have fun painting your own canvas to take home OR paint one for your mother or grandmother for Mother’s day! We’ll be creating a cheerful and easy painting of red poppies. Limited to the first 13 matches to sign up! Cost is $20 per Big; cost for Littles is paid for by a grant. Run For Kids’ Sake 5K on June 15

This 5K on the campus of Warren Wilson College benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in Buncombe County! The event is open to runners and walkers; no dogs or strollers allowed due to the terrain. Workshop on Thursday April 11 from 5:30-7:00. Location: 3rd floor conference room in the United Way building. Ted Duncan, Assistant Principal at Jones Elementary and nationally certified trainer, will lead a workshop on research by Ruby Payne about poverty and its effects on children and families. Lyn Bush, counselor at Koontz Intermediate School, will discuss ways to motivate and support youth who are under-achieving in school. Brown bag lunch. We’ll have water and a snack.
