Upcoming Match Activities

Canoeing is Back! Peter Van Gieson with Wolf Creek Adventures is again offering free canoeing sessions.

Dates: June 3, 10, 17 from 6:00-8:00 on Lake Julian and June 21 from 10:00-4:00 on the French Broad River. Maximum of 6 matches, so call 258-3296 or email Peter soon to sign up.

Matches need to be able to attend at least 2 of the 3 lake sessions to participate. All equipment is provided. Wear shoes and clothing that can get wet. Adults need to sign a WCA Adult Waiver and ACA Adult Waiver, and Littles' parents need to sign a WCA Youth Waiver/Medical Release and ACA Minor Waiver before attending. Mail completed forms to: Peter Van Gieson, 40 Baker Drive, Asheville, NC 28806.

Recognition Dinner For Littles: Join us on May 29 from 6:00-8:00 at the Asheville High School cafeteria to honor the accomplishments of youth in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Call 253-1470 or email your Match Support Coordinator to reserve your spot! Also, let us know what we are recognizing your Little for (Honor Roll, All Star Team, All County Chorus, etc.) Littles can bring their Big and parent/ guardian.

Asheville Area Arts Council: Free tickets (Buncombe matches only) to many arts/cultural events in the area. Call 253-1470 at least two weeks in advance with the event title and date you wish to attend.

Asheville Tourists: Free tickets for Bigs & Littles for Sunday-Wednesday games, excluding fireworks games. To reserve tickets call 253-1470 between 9 a.m. and noon on the day of the game, or between 9 a.m. and noon Friday for a Sunday game. Pick up your tickets at the will call window at the ball field under the Big's name.

Chimney Rock Park: Big buys a ticket to the park and the Little's is free. Any day of the week.

ColdStone Creamery: Big buys a cup/cone of ice cream and the Little's is free.

Flat Rock Playhouse: Free tickets to plays.

Fuddruckers: Kids under age 12 can eat free from the kid's menu, with the purchase of an adult entree after 4:00 p.m., Mon.-Wed. You do not need to show your BBBS card.

Fun Depot: 2 hours for $15/person, $20/person for 2 hours w/ pizza & pasta buffet included.

Health Adventure: Call 253-1470 for complimentary passes.

O'Charley's: Littles under 10 years old eat free.

Tarwheels Skateway: Big pays for the skating session and Little skates free.

Tropical Gardens Mini-Golf: Little plays for free when Big pays.

Ultimate Ice Cream: Big buys a cup/cone of ice cream and the Little's is free.

WNC Nature Center: Free admission for Littles when their Bigs show participant cards.

YMCA: Enjoy unlimited visits to the YMCA! Present your YMCA photo ID (or pick up membership applications at our Asheville office).
