The Course
The Warren Wilson College campus is consistently called one of the most beautiful in the country.  The course begins in front of DeVries Athletic Center, crosses a spectacular pedestrian bridge and traverses the central campus on the way to the College Farm.  After passing scenic pastures, a single track trail leads you to the organic garden. The final leg includes a beautiful pond, more single track and broad views of the Craggy mountain range before returning via the pedestrian bridge to a flat finish on the athletic fields. Although some of the run will take place on pavement, the majority will be on dirt or grass.  The entire route is off public streets. Click here for a course map

No dogs and no strollers are allowed on the course.

The Cause
Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC works with  adults who want to make a difference and children who need a caring and constant presence in their lives.  Kids with mentors are more likely to finish high school and enroll in college and less likely to join a gang or use drugs and alcohol.  For many “Littles” a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them see possibilities that they never knew existed.

Adult volunteers, enrolled children, and their families are all interviewed to ensure that kids and grown ups share interests and will want to do similar activities.  Volunteers are given training and background checks prior to being matched and receive ongoing support from our staff.  The staff also work with families to ensure the relationship is strong and any issues are addressed.

The College
Warren Wilson College is a private, liberal arts college established in 1894 and serving 900 full-time undergraduate students. The College offers strong academics with work for the school (15 hours per week) and service to the community (100 hours over four years) for a more involving, more meaningful education.
