Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Cherokee County held its Bowl for Kids’ Sake on Saturday, March 7, at the Ultra-Star Multi-Tainment Center at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River, in Murphy. We had a pirate theme this year!
This is one of the group’s largest fundraisers of the year! Bowl for Kids’ Sake had 16 teams with four or five people on each team, according to Gloria Dockery, a program coordinator of Cherokee County BBBS, a branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina.
“BBBS only asks for a $50 donation per team member to be raised so they can bowl that day,” Dockery said, speaking about the event and Bowl For Kids’ Sake events to come. “When they come in, they will receive a T-shirt with ‘Bowl for Kids’ Sake’ and our themed pirate on the front.
“They will also receive their shoes and bowling ball, along with donuts for all and a very special goody bag.”
All teams have the opportunity to receive door prizes. The money raised will be used to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cherokee County.
Bowl For Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ signature fundraiser. Each year, half a million people across America come together to have fun and raise money to support Big Brothers Big Sisters as we expand what’s possible for youth!
