Cashiers Advisory Committee members pack meals during crisis

On March 31, a few members of the BBBS Cashiers Advisory Council, along with Program Coordinator Danielle Hernandez, helped pack 158 community meals that Mica’s Restaurant in Sapphire was donating.

In return, Dale McElroy, the owner of Mica’s, helped feed seven of our 12 Cashiers program families by donating 33 lasagna meals!  Danielle and council member Nancy Albers delivered meals directly to their homes.

Here’s a heartwarming note – Nancy noted how much being involved in the deliveries touched her. She realized she was disconnected from the situations many of our Littles and families experience. The realization of the exposure left her completely humbled and grateful for all she has.

Nancy said she felt the need to be more appreciative and to re-evaluate what she has.

“I was so grateful,” Danielle said, “to have been able to spend that time with Nancy and to be able to be a supportive model for our community and our program families during this time.  We are currently working on other avenues of support for the Cashiers community and also for our BBBS program.”
