Story Choreography Projects brings community members together for “authentic theatre” productions that interweave personal story, movement and multimedia to create montages of human experience that are both personal and universal. On May 13, SCP debuts Our Friends: Liking, Laughter, Longings and Loss—a portion of ticket sales will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC..
Our Friends will be the culmination of 15 individual’s participation in a nine-week workshop with Barrie Barton, Artistic Director of Story Choreography Projects.
The Story Choreography Project’s creative process is to harness the stories never shared and transform them into spoken, seen and expressed actions through the container of performance and community,” says Barton.
Our Friends will premiere Sunday, May 13 at Jubilee! Community in downtown Asheville. Two performances are slated for the evening, one at 4 PM and the second at 6:15 PM. Tickets at $16, $3 of each sale will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina. For more information, contact Barrie Barton at barrie@standanddeliverasheville.com
