Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina will host a “Dirty Dancing” themed fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 3, at The Hackney Warehouse, 11 Railroad St., Murphy.  

The event, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.,will feature dinner, dancing and a 1950s and 1960s theme. Guests are encouraged to dress in clothing from the era.

Proceeds will support BBBS programs that connect local young people with adult mentors. BBBS Cherokee serves more than 100 local youth and families. Currently, there are more than 40 children on its list waiting to be matched with a mentor.

Several Dirty Dancing sponsorship levels are available, ranging from $250 to $2,500. Sponsorships help BBBS Cherokee pay for mentor recruitment, screening and training, along with activities for children and their mentors.
