Becoming a ‘Big’

We believe that in each child there is a special spark that, when provided with inspiration and encouragement, will lead them to become a positive, productive citizen of our community and the world.

With just a few hours each month as a volunteer Big Brother or Big Sister, you’ll become a role model and a friend and provide your Little with the support they need to reach their full potential.

And … it’s rewarding and fun!

What People Say

"What I like about being a Big Brother is that it forces me to get out of my rut and try new things. For example, we have taken archery lessons, trampoline jumping and modern arts and crafts lessons together. I doubt I would have had those experiences on my own."

-Mark, Big Brother

"She enriches my life. She is part of my family and part of my network of people who help make me who I am. So, what you get out of this relationship is: someone who feeds you, who is part of what makes you happy and feel fulfilled."

-Laura, Big Sister

"In these times, when so much could divide us, being a big to Isiah has allowed me a diversity in life that I cherish to be a part of. "

-William, Big Brother

"As wonderful and beautiful as Asheville is, there is still so much segregation and so many relationships that are not able to be fostered. Being a Big lets me build connections and relationships that I might not otherwise develop...and this is such an opportunity for me to grow. "

-Elizabeth, Big Sister

"I've seen her learn to swim, we've seen he Lion King together...and now I'm going to get to see her graduate from high school and I couldn't be more grateful and proud. "

-Nikki, Big Sister
