A Little Sister becomes part of her Big’s family

From left, Jay Ruebel, his daughter, Journi Jaynes, and Aryn Williams Ruebel

This is pretty unusual, but it’s oh so wonderful – Little Sister Journi has become a member of her Big Sister’s family!

Journi, a Haywood County resident, became a Little in the site-based program nearly five years ago when she was in the third grade.  She was matched with a pastor of the Methodist church, Erin Weaver, until Erin was reassigned to another area. Before she left, she recommended another Methodist pastor, Aryn Williams-Reuble, who became Journi’s Big Sister.

Aryn and Journi became instant friends. After a year of site-based mentoring, they became a community-based match.

Through legal guardianship, Journi recently became a member of Aryn’s family. Both are extremely excited. Aryn was reassigned to a church in Cashiers, so BBBS Haywood is closing the match. But Journi and Aryn have begun a new chapter in their lives. We are super happy for them!
