Big Brothers
Big Sisters of Cherokee County held its Bowl for Kids’ Sake on Saturday, March 7, at the Ultra Star Multi-Tainment Center at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River, in Murphy. We had a pirate theme this year!
This is one of the group’s largest fundraisers of the year! Bowl for Kids’ Sake had 16 teams with four or five people on each team, according to Gloria Dockery, a program coordinator of Cherokee County BBBS, a branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina.
“BBBS only asks for a $50 donation per team member to be raised so they can bowl that day,” Dockery said. All teams have the opportunity to receive door prizes. The money raised will be used to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cherokee County.
BBBS would also like to express thanks to many people. First and foremost, we would like to extend a huge thank you to Modern Woodmen for providing us with a matching grant, plus three wonderful door prizes!
We also want to say thanks to the 16 BFKS team members that came out March 7 and worked very hard to raise money and donated their own money and time! Thank you to all other businesses that donated: Lowes, Murphy Auto Parts, Sweet Tooth, Ultra Star Bowling, Subway, Howard’s Bait and Tackle, P&R Paving, Robbin Sinay’, Tom Spencer, Valley Town Insurance, Interstate Welding, Andrews Cruise Night, Gail and David Hubbard in Memory of Betty Westmoreland and Jeff Swain.
BBBS would also like to include all of our board members and our two new Pacesetters employees, Lori Anderson and Erin Nicholson. We could not have done any of this without everyone’s help and support. You guys are awesome! Thank you!
