On May 1, Murphy First United Methodist Church’s Missions Team donated close to $600 to purchase books from the Curiosity Shop Bookstore in Murphy for more than 30 Littles who attend Murphy Elementary School! (This very kind donation benefits not only students in BBBS but also a local small business in Murphy.)
And then Western Carolina Pacesetters, Dollar General, and Walmart got involved by purchasing more books for every child in the BBBS program (that’s more than 90 kids!). They also donated school supplies and loads of snacks!
Community support is what it takes for us to keep giving to our Littles! Click our donation page to support Big Brothers Big Sister of Cherokee County (be sure to make Cherokee BBBS the beneficiary!).
Program coordinators Gloria Dockery and Gail Hubbard would like to thank Murphy First United Methodist Church for remembering the children, as well as Kerry Archer, owner and operator of The Curiosity Shop Bookstore who worked very hard to carefully choose just the right book, per age and grade level, for our students. And thank you, Western Carolina Pacesetters, Dollar General, and Walmart!
