FLETCHER, N.C. (WLOS) — A young boy from Fletcher is headed to the big leagues this weekend, thanks to the efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Henderson County.
Andre Williamson’s Big Brother, Joey Popp, entered his name in the Carolina Panther’s Kids Club earlier this summer.
Last week, they found out Williamson had been selected to grab the tee off the field after the second half kickoff during this weekend’s game between the Panthers and the Green Bay Packers.
Williamson said he is looking forward to getting a close encounter with his favorite quarterback.
“I want to, like, hand the tee to Cam Newton while its the second half. I might stand beside him if I can. Or I might stand next to one of the coaches,” he said.
The announcement came as big news for Williamson’s family. They said they are proud of his special honor, but also want to thank Big Brothers Big Sisters for the opportunity as well as the work they do in the community.
