Polk County High School Bigs recently met with guest speaker Terri Abrams Lassiter, a National Guard veteran who spoke about leadership, responsibility and achievement. The group discussed how to leaders handle differences of opinion and how they could apply Terri’s insights to their relationships with their Little Brothers and Sisters.
Terri, who served in the National Guard driving five-ton trucks, talked about the many different jobs in the military and the benefits of being in service. That prompted a discussion among the Bigs about military service as a career path.
They were also impressed with Terri’s cool gadget – a voice-activated drone camera that she used to take group photos. In thanks, she was given cards made by Polk matches.
“She was very touched,” Polk Program Coordinator Jessica Toney said.
