It’s a bowling outing that makes a big difference for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Western North Carolina.
Teams of friends and co-workers are forming now for Bowl For Kids’ Sake, the organization’s signature fundraising event. Nearly 200 teams from companies, churches, and schools are expected to participate. Expect some swashbuckling in the gutter, since this year’s theme is pirates.
This year also marks the first annual Big Brewery Bowl Off—a first-time partnership between the Asheville Brewer’s Alliance and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. At 7 pm March 2 at Asheville’s Sky Lanes, teams from ABA-affiliated breweries will take to the lanes, raising funds for BBBS while also squaring off in a two game bowling battle, the winning team of which will walk away with a traveling trophy and bragging rights for a year. Local comedian and storyteller Betsy Puckett will host and provide commentary during the competition.
All the money raised during Bowl For Kids’ Sake will be used to match mentors with children facing adversity, fostering successful match relationships that transform children’s lives.
