Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina has received a $2,000 Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation, recognizing our work to support local youth who need an extra adult in their corner.
The grant
The grant was a result of a nomination from a Starbucks partner in Haywood County who has seen the impact of our work firsthand. Through the Neighborhood Grants program, The Starbucks Foundation invites partner-led nominations and considers insights from Starbucks partners to award grants to nonprofits and charities making a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.
“We are deeply grateful to The Starbucks Foundation and its partners for recognizing the work we do in the 18 western North Carolina counties that we serve,” said Paul Clark, BBBSWNC Communications Coordinator. “This generous grant furthers our work to help our Littles develop their talents, interests, and abilities as they prepare for their futures as adults.”
The Starbucks Foundation
Since 2019, The Starbucks Foundation has awarded more than 19,000 grants totaling over $30 million across North America. In Western North Carolina, Neighborhood Grants are one way Starbucks demonstrates how local partnerships between Starbucks partners, customers and nonprofits are strengthening communities.
The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grants program supports grassroots, community-led nonprofit organizations making a difference in their communities. With Starbucks partners leading the way, Starbucks helps strengthen communities it serves. Neighborhood Grants also help deepen local impact and inspire ongoing partner engagement with nonprofit organizations and charities that work in their communities.
“Starbucks has always been the community coffeehouse – a place where connection and joy come to life, led by partners,” said Kelly Goodejohn, executive director of The Starbucks Foundation. “Through Neighborhood Grants, our partners inspire millions in funding to local organizations making a meaningful difference, from addressing hunger to supporting youth. We’re proud to support the causes our partners care deeply about. When we invest in our partners, they help strengthen their communities.”
