Kudos to these High School Bigs who graduated from Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania counties! You’ve worked so hard to achieve what you earned. Congrats!
Look for our Cherokee County High School grads in another blog!
Today, we’ll start first with our High School Big grads from Transylvania County.

Jesus
Jesus will attend UNC Chapel Hill on a full scholarship! “Jesus is a go-getter, to say the least,” Transylvania Program Coordinator Debbie Thompson said. “I have no doubt he will achieve his goal of owning his own business in the solar industry through his studies of business and finance.”

Brendan
Brendan is off to Clemson University to study mechanical engineering. “His observations and ideas regarding his Little Brother have been invaluable,” Debbie said. “With his insight and commitment, I know he will make a stellar addition to their engineering program.”
And now, here are our two High School Big grads from Buncombe and Henderson counties.
“Our graduating Bigs have given so much, especially those matched after Hurricane Helene who brought stability and care when it was deeply needed,” said Marta Corbin, a Project MARS School Engagement Coordinator. “Whether they served one year or two, they’ve made lasting impacts, and I’m so proud of each of them.”
Annalise, matched with SanMiguel at Franklin School of Innovation in Buncombe County, is heading to college to become a teacher, “perfect for someone as thoughtful and encouraging as she is,” Marta said. “I know she’ll bring the same support and positive energy she’s shown to SanMiguel to her future classroom.”
Lila has spent two school years showing up for Little Sister Ciara at Bruce Drysdale Elementary in Henderson County. She’s heading to college this fall but hopes to stay in touch with Ciara to continue their friendship.
College-bound, Anna has been matched with Teagan at Edneyville Elementary in Henderson County for two school years. “She brought a calm, supportive presence to her match,” Marta said. “We’ll miss her steady leadership and kind spirit.”
Daniella was matched with Ava at Edneyville Elementary in November, soon after Hurricane Helene. “In just one school year, she offered warmth and consistency when it mattered most to Ava,” Marta said.
Haley is going to college to study nursing – and she’s continuing her match with Skyla, a student at Edneyville Elementary! “She’s been a kind, supportive role model to Skyla, always coming up with the best crafts to do together,” Marta said. “It’s been a pleasure to watch her connection with Skyla grow, and I can’t wait to see it continue next year.”
Jimena built a meaningful connection with Little Sister Rosario at Edneyville Elementary. “Her warmth and understanding brought comfort during a tough year,” Marta said.
