Closing out the year with great holiday parties

BBBS is closing out 2021 with a host of great holiday parties.

With these adorable llamas, BBBS Cashiers & Highlands participated in both the Highlands and Cashiers holiday parades, enjoying a lunch between the events with families, Bigs, and Littles. For the second year in a row, the branch won an award in the Cashiers parade – the Rudolph’s Friends Award! Pictured from left are Big Sister Carla, Little Sister Mia, and Gabriel.

BBBS Clay Program Coordinator Chloe Jackson-Pierce, second from left, gave out goodie bags with cookies and resources, including info about how to enroll Littles with BBBS, at Cookies with Santa in Clay County on Dec. 9. She’s with other members of the Clay County Smart Start/Local Interagency Coordinating Council team.

During BBBS Haywood’s holiday party on Dec. 7, special volunteer Miriam Tew helped matches make “poi,” a ball-on-a-cord device that indigenous Maori people of New Zealand used to increase their flexibility and strength in their hands and arms, as well as improving coordination. The other special visitor at the party came from the North Pole.

BBBS Henderson was hosted by the Flat Rock Bistro Cinema to watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” We also made holiday cards for nursing home residents, and made a Grinch-themed ornament. Each Little received a stocking full of goodies and enjoyed pizza and popcorn. Our Littles had a Big holiday gathering! Picture from left are Fletcher Mayor Preston Blakely, with Littles Haley, Mary, and Andre.
