8th Annual Georgia Mountain Tennis Championships

Event Details

What: The Georgia Mountain Tennis Championships is a recreational tennis tournament for men, women, boys and girls. 120 players participated on over 94 teams in 2017 and we expect a 20% increase this year! Trophies for champions, finalists and consolation winners. In addition, there are cash prizes for the men’s and women’s Open divisions. Levels of play include Novice to Open

When: Friday, August 24, Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26

Where: Young Harris College, Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex at YHC, Highway 76, Young Harris, Georgia

Why: Have fun while benefitting local nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cherokee County. Big Brothers Big Sisters working to ensure every child in WNC has an enjoyable, long-term relationship with a caring adult who believes in them and sees their potential. We select and match mentors with children facing adversity and provide ongoing activities, training and support services for both families and volunteers to foster a successful match relationship and a lasting connection.

When matched with their Big, Littles gain a role model, a friend and access to new experiences through which they build higher aspirations for their lives. These relationships provide them with the support they need to achieve academic improvement, growth in self-confidence and development of life skills, and reward mentors with the experience of being an integral part of of that young person’s success.

How:  Singles, doubles and mixed doubles can register

• Juniors 18 and under, $25/player with $15/extra event;
• Adults  18 and over, $40/player with $15/extra event
• Seniors 60 and over, $40/player with $15/extra event
• Open Single Players $50/player with $15/extra event

Depending on division—match play will be either single-elimination with consolidation or round-robin
