Many of our Littles learned about Chinese New Year in February by sampling food at local Chinese restaurants and hearing about the meaning of the lunar new year.
BBBS Transylvania County had a grand Chinese New Year celebration at Twin Dragons restaurant. Amid traditional decorations, Littles learned about Lunar New Year customs and global traditions while celebrating community and learning new things.
“Our evening just highlights BBBS’ commitment to new experiences that strengthen relationships and broaden horizons for local children and youth,” said Debbie Thompson, BBBS Transylvania Program Coordinator.
Matches in Henderson County celebrated Chinese New Year Dinner at Lon Sen Chinese Restaurant.
“It was a fun and festive gathering filled with joy and tradition,” BBBS Henderson Program Coordinator Ashley Arguelles said. “We enjoyed delicious food, learned about the meaning behind the holiday, decorated it with red and gold to symbolize good luck and prosperity – and built dragons! It was a wonderful time of community, culture, and new beginnings as we welcomed the Lunar New Year together.”
