Our Big Sister of the Month Chloe uses the power of the pen

Little Brother Toby and Big Sister Chloe

For today’s Mission Thursday, we’re featuring Chloe, our “Big of the Month” for June. Contact during the pandemic has been challenging for many of our matches, but Chloe and Little Brother Toby, matched nine months in Buncombe County, have engaged in some fun and creative activities while apart.

They have used Zoom to tour the San Diego Zoo virtually. They both really enjoyed watching the animals together. They’ve written letters to each other and even cooked together.

“I found a recipe and shared it with his mom,” Chloe said. “We went to the grocery separately to purchase the ingredients. We made the same meal together, step by step, and our families reaped the rewards.”

Chloe followed that meal-sharing experience with a thank you letter. She told Toby how great it was to spend some time together. She included a self-addressed, stamped envelope – and he wrote back!
