Big Sister Lori and Little Sister Paisley
For almost three years, Paisley and her Big Sister Lori of Yancey County have shared adventures, laughs, challenges, and victories. This past week, they took on the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster and ropes course in Banner Elk.
For Lori, who has a big fear of heights, this was no small task. But Paisley, her fearless Little Sister, took the lead. Her courage and excitement gave Lori the push she needed to face one of the hardest obstacles. And not only did Lori get through it, she went on to complete four more!
That’s the beauty of Big Brothers Big Sisters. It’s not just about a mentor guiding a child. It’s about building a relationship where you inspire each other, grow together, and discover that you can do hard things side by side. Being a Big isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, making memories, and believing in someone until they believe in themselves.
And sometimes, as Lori learned that day, your Little might just be the one leading the way.

If you’ve ever thought about making a difference, now is the time. There’s a child out there who needs someone in their corner. And you might be surprised at how much they’ll change your life too.
Be a Big. Change two lives.
