Susy Chandler, former Little Sister, joins BBBS Buncombe Advisory Council

Susy Chandler, central affairs coordinator of Lenoir-Rhyne University Asheville, has joined the Buncombe County branch’s Advisory Board.

Chandler comes to Big Brothers Big Sisters as a former Little Sister who lived then in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1985, her Big Sister was named Arkansas’ Big Sister of the Year.

“I got to have lunch at the governor’s mansion with the first lady (Hillary Clinton),” Chandler says. “I don’t remember anything about Hillary, but I do remember the sweet London Fog jean jacket my Big gave me to wear at the occasion. As the youngest of four kids, I was a dumping spot for hand-me-downs, so it was really special.

“I have about 100 stories about my cool Big Sister, and the impact she had on my life that lingers these decades later.”
