We welcome these two new employees to BBBSWNC – Samara Halleck and Gurdeep Singh!
Samara, our new program manager, will focus primarily on program development and quality assurance.
Samara, who recently completed coursework for a master’s degree in public administration, worked for eight years in education, most recently as assistant director of the Bright IDEAS afterschool program at Isaac Dickson Elementary in Asheville.
“I have a great passion for facilitating social services and programs for children and families,” she said. “I whole-heartedly believe that no one accomplishes anything alone, so I am looking forward to engaging with our staff, our volunteers, and community as we work together to provide the children of WNC with resources that promote life-long happiness and success.”
Gurdeep, who will be one of two program coordinators in Buncombe County, was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he spent most of his life before attending Wake Forest University on a scholarship. There, he majored in both classics and sociology. After graduation, he spent a few years working with children on the spectrum as a behavior technician.
“I am excited to work with BBBSWNC,” he said, “because I can use my skills to help build meaningful community connections in a way that uplifts underserved populations throughout Western North Carolina.”
